My Stupid Gall Bladder

Just when things are going great and you don't have a care in the world (like right after a great birthday) you are grounded by a trial in your life. My trial this month is my Gall Bladder and Pancreas! Christian rushed me to the hospital Saturday night with the most pain I have ever felt in my life!!! I can honestly say that I would rather go through labor 20 times over than feel what I felt that night.

The Doctors decided to do a procedure called an ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography). This procedure is to get out the stones that are located in my Bile Duct. They go through my throat, then down into my stomach and then to the Bile Duct to pull the stones and sludge out of there. Everything went well with that procedure and they gave me wonderful drugs so I don't remember a thing!!!

Well, after the ERCP yesterday they told me to rest and then I would be discharged the next day. Unfortunately I have had a lot more pain and nausea and vomiting so they drew some more blood to find out that my Amylase and Lipase (my Pancreas enzymes) were critically elevated. Which is NOT GOOD! So I am still in the hospital with NO food or drink and a lot of pain medicine. The only thing we can do is wait it out, and hopefully things will get better.

Christian is being such a great husband and father right now and I know he is getting Mucho blessings right now. I just wanted to thank all those people who have helped with the kids and have brought food over. I have been stressed about things at home and it is nice to know that the most important people in my life are taken care of. I feel so helpless here in the hospital.

Thanks again,
Jennilyn

One Hot Mama (even at 25)

Yesterday morning, Dad and the kids smothered Mom in bed and sang "Happy Birthday." I'm sure she would have preferred for us to go downstairs and let her sleep, but where's the fun in that? Instead of making breakfast, we took her out to breakfast. We all enjoyed the food, and Dad was glad he didn't have to do any dishes. After breakfast, we went home and Mom darted out the door. She got gift certificates from my mom, my sister, and Megan. So naturally she just HAD to go shopping. Who knew that three gift certificates could last 4 hours?!

After that Jenni and I headed off to dinner and a movie. We went to an awesome restaurant the Bone Fish Grill

Then we went to see Hancock. Even though it wasn't a comedy, Jenni and I still laughed pretty hard at times.(Photo courtesy of Brooklyn Photography inc.)

When we got home from our little date, the kids were exhausted. The Humphers watched the kids, and Jon did a great job playing with the kids and tiring them out. Or was it the kids playing with Jon and tiring HIM out? Either way, the kids slept great.

After we put the kids to bed, Jenni visited one of her good friend's blog and she, Senessa, had done a post on Jenni. Here's a pic that she posted from when they were in junior high. (I had a good laugh).

Jenni said she had a great day yesterday and she deserved it. She's a wonderful mother and wife. There's no way I could do what she does. The kids and I are lucky we have her.

We love you Mom!

They call it the Golden Age...

A quarter of a century old is what my brothers and sisters said when they all sent me 4 quarters for my birthday. They called me old, but in the most loving way, I hope.
So, Cheers to being 25. I am really looking forward to the next 25 years and making them better than the first, if I can??? I feel so blessed to be where I am today, with what I have today. My wonderful husband, and amazing kids who bring such joy to my life each day. I don't think I could go on without them.

Thanks for making this Birthday a great one!

July's Birthstone is a Ruby and wow am I lucky. Someday, when we are not starving students and we can afford to waste some money on ME, I am going to get me one of these babies.

But for now I have to settle for a wonderful husband who gets me just what I want...
Yes the Canon Rebel XTi. It is so cool and I have loved playing with it. It was a great surprise and I love it!!!
Thanks honey

Boards are here!!!

National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners
Part 1-Basic Science Examination

this is the 1st of 2 Board Exams Christian will be taking during his medical school career...
Christian takes his Podiatric Board exams tomorrow (July 9th, 2008) and we hope he feels our prayers because he has had a lot coming his way. It has been a pretty stressful place around here, and we ALL will be glad when it is over. It seems like we have been waiting forever for this point and it is only the beginning to the next step.

We took Christian out to dinner and then dropped him off to get a massage. He should be all relaxed and ready to go for tomorrow. We are so proud of him and know he will do great! He has sacrificed a lot these past few months and we know that all of his hard work will pay off. GOOK LUCK HONEY!!!

We love you Dad

4th of July 2008

This year our 4th of July celebration started on the 3rd with Fireworks downtown Des Moines, which resulted in tired kids and too much traffic!!!

The 4th was a fun filled day with a BBQ at the Summers and then off to the Waukee Parade. I took the kids home to nap and then went back to hang with Megan and Sam, to watch the fireworks, while the Dad's worked at the club. Thanks Megan for having us over, you are the BEST!!!
